Well, given the title of this post, you can kind of tell that it didn't exactly go to plan.
We went into loads of stores; Radley (very nearly bought a new bag!), House of Fraser, Debenhams, Northface, Molton Brown, Lush, New Look, and lots more. It was a fantastic day, albeit an expensive one! However, despite the fact that we bought a fair amount of things, the reason I wanted to do an Urban Decay haul is because I had a pretty great experience with the woman who served me. She wasn't pressurising and seemed to actually have a high level of enthusiasm for her job. Despite the fact she managed to upsell me a couple of things, I didn't feel like I was just being pushed into it, which is what I've felt in the past at some other beauty counters.
I've never purchased anything from Urban Decay before, so I was a bit uncertain about what I should actually buy and, to be honest, it was my first time buying makeup from a counter in a fair while. I like my £5 eyeshadow palettes and my cheap and cheerful foundations, but I felt like I wanted to get something a bit different.
This was my first purchase and it was something that I hadn't really heard much about. Everyone always goes on about the original Naked palette and the Naked 2 palette, but I didn't even know that a Naked Basics one existed. It looked like it had some really great matte colours, and the pigmentation was fantastic, so I thought it was definitely worth a shot. I'll be doing swatches later down the line, once I manage to sort out the lighting situation in my room.
This is actually something that the lady at the Urban Decay counter gave me and it's a two week sample of their Naked Skin foundation. Upon closer inspection of the actual packaging, the sample does seem to be really small and I, personally, wouldn't expect it to last two weeks. But I'm definitely going to try it out and let you guys know how I get on with it!
The next thing I bought was the Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer. Now, despite being twenty-one years old, I already have the under-eye wrinkles of horror settled quite neatly into my skin. It's very depressing, and makes me understand why most people think I'm a lot older than I am. That's why, when I saw the words 'brightening and tightening', I just had to purchase it. Despite the fact that it is meant to be used for eyeshadow, I was told that it would be perfect for stopping concealer from creasing under the eyes as well. So, it was a no-brainer really!
I haven't actually worn pencil eyeliner since I was in highschool, purely because pencil eyeliners and my incredibly watery eyes just never seemed able to work hand in hand. I would end up with horrific smudge marks and disgusting globs of eyeliner in the corners of my eyes (which is as horrible as it sounds). However, when I sampled the 'Riot' pencil, I just couldn't resist. These eyeliners have a touch of colour with a black under-tone, so you still get the definition of the black but the stunning enhancement that comes with the colour. I definitely look forward to giving these a go!
Now, last but not least, I decided that I just had to sample the Naked 2 palette. I know, I know! A lot of you are probably thinking I should have waited for the Naked 3 to hit the UK, but.. you know what? I really like the tones in this palette and, to be honest, I don't mind getting the Naked 3 palette later down the line. Heck, if I like this one enough, I might still get the Naked 3 once it's released over here! But really, I've heard so many good reviews about this palette and it seemed like a fantastic addition to my collection. I don't have a huge number of nude eyeshadow colours, and this definitely seemed like the right direction to go in. Again, swatches will definitely follow once I get some better lighting!
So, that was my Urban Decay haul and I hope you enjoyed it! I will aim to do reviews on some of these products later down the line. Feel free to leave a comment in the box below if you have a preference of which review you would like to see first! Thanks for reading!

This was my first ever Urban Decay purchase, but I heard so many amazing things about the brand and I think it pushed me to buy more of the products. The Naked basics one looks fantastic, how are you getting on with it? x
DeleteOooh nice haul! I love the primer potion, I've got the normal one, but I have the same problem as you (and I'm 21!) This sounds good! And I really am lusting over the black market set x
ReplyDeleteI'm claiming that the wrinkles are there to prove that I'm wise beyond my years. (; But yeah, I just thought it would be great to try the anti-ageing one to see how well it held out. Definitely better than any of the other eye primers I've used!
DeleteI nearly walked out without the black marker set but I explained to the lady working there that my eyes frequently change colours (between grey, blue, and green) and she said that these would be perfect for those varying days. The black undertone really helps them frame the eyes, as well. (:
you picked up some fab things!! Iv'e been eyeing up the Naked Basics for quite some time!! :) xx
ReplyDeleteI need to get the naked 2 palette.
