Review | Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick

Now, I've never been a big fan of lipstick. It's not because I don't like the look of it or anything like that. Oh no, it's more because I have lips like the sahara desert - dry as a pack of crackers. When I was younger and went to school, even lip balms seemed just make it worse and my lips would peel horrendously throughout the day. Definitely not an attractive look!

However, a couple of weeks ago, I started watching some tutorials online and began to build more and more curiosity about the wonders of lipstick, and this pushed me to make my first ever purchase. Now, I knew that I had to go for something that had a bit of moisture in it and I knew that I couldn't really go for anything too matte, as it would just bring more attention to any flakes that built up during the day. After scouring the shelves at Boots for a good half an hour, I stumbled upon Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipsticks and these just seemed perfect. Their selling point is to saturate your lips in moisture, whilst hosting a variety of vitamins to help care for your skin, hinting that this should make them last longer throughout the day.
I will admit that I went a tad overboard and, instead of buying just one shade, I grabbed about four or five. And, you know what? I'm pretty glad that I did. After a week of wearing these fantastic lipsticks, I perish at the thought of walking out of the house with naked lips. Unless they are well moisturised to begin with, I wouldn't recommend putting these onto totally bare lips. I made sure to put on a light lip balm at the start of my make-up routine, allowing it to sink in a bit before applying the actual lipstick. I did find that, when I didn't do this, my lips did start to feel a tad dry towards the end of the day, enough so that some cracks started to appear. However, a combination of a small amount of lip balm first thing in the morning, and a re-application of your favourite shade once or twice throughout the day seemed to work wonders.

I would definitely recommend giving this lipstick a go, especially if, like me, you have lips that are so dry they could rival Jack Dee's sense of humour. I, personally, don't use lip liner with these but that is purely because I'm really not a morning person and I try to do the bare minimum when getting my make-up ready first thing. I don't think I even own a lip liner, which I'm sure will make a far number of people out there cringe. But hey, I never used to use lipstick before and now look at me!

Do you have any lipsticks you'd recommend for dry lips? What do you think of Rimmel's Moisture Renew lipsticks? Please, let me know in the comments below!
